April & May, 2005

On my way to Tucson, I stayed at the Riviera RV Park, in Blythe, CA.
It's located right on the Colorado River, which separates California, from Arizona.

Took a drive up to the top of Mt. Lemmon.
The fire, a couple of years ago, destroyed most of the houses, cabins, and businesses, on this beautiful mountain, but they are rebuilding.  It's about a 30 mile trip from where I'm staying in Tucson, and is 8500 feet in elevation.
This photo was taken on the way up.

Closer to the top.

Thimble Peak.

Mt. Lemmon Cafe.
One of the few places the fire missed.

Kobe, waiting for lunch.
Ski Valley, Mt. Lemmon.
Middle of April, and there is still snow.
View from the top.
A road in the boonies of Western Tucson.
The sign said DIPS, boy, was that an understaement.
I pulled into a store parking lot,  in Tucson Sunday morning,  and saw these old Ford's lined up.
On the way to the Karchner Caverns, we stoped in Benson, at the Horse Shoe Cafe, and had a great breakfast for five dollars.
Lots of local charm, and a beautiful old Wurlitzer Jukebox, with the song selector boxes on each table.

Across the street from the Horse Shoe Cafe, was this Vererans Memorial.

Entrance to the Kartchner Caverns.  This is a "must see" if you are going to be in AZ.
Arizona did a magnificent job of building a Visitors Center, that is fitting, for such an incredible, and awe inspiring  place.
Sorry, no cameras were allowed inside the caverns.
Click on the Kartchner Caverns, or the Benson links above for more information.
On my way home I stayed at the Emerald Desert RV Resort, located in Palm Desert, CA.
Most of the snowbirds had left, and I had the place pretty much to my self.  This is the nicest RV park that I have stayed at.
Photo of the putting green, and office area.
I had a nice end site close to the pool, and spotless showers.
It was 104 degrees in Palm Desert, but there was still snow on the mountains. 05/25/05
